Amtei is the name for an administrative unit consisting of two districts in the Swiss canton of Solothurn .

They are:

The offices have been the electoral districts for the cantonal council (cantonal parliament) since 2005 . They also form the lowest unit for both jurisdiction and the organization of cantonal administration. The districts, however, have only had statistical significance since 2005.

history

During the restoration from 1815 to 1830, these offices were called Solothurn, Lebern, Kriegstetten, Bucheggberg, Balsthal (including the district of Gäu), Olten, Gösgen, Dorneck and Thierstein. They were thus largely congruent with the districts of the same name. An exception was the Amtei Balsthal, which consisted of the districts Thal and Gäu and was thus congruent with today's Amtei Thal-Gäu. The former administration and district of Kriegstetten were congruent with today's district of Wasseramt .
