background
After the Prussian province of Schleswig-Holstein had been established in 1867 , the district was formed from the two communities Fröslee and Harrislee .
After the referendum in Schleswig , Fröslee was ceded to Denmark in 1920. In return, the communities of Kupfermühle and Niehuus come from the disbanded Bau district to the Harrislee district.
