Official building of the Autonomous Region of Trentino-South Tyrol
The office building of the autonomous region South Tyrol ( Italian Palazzo della Regione Autonoma Trentino-Alto Adige ) in Trento serves as the administrative and representative building the region South Tyrol . The complex, which consists of three structures, is both the seat of the regional government of Trentino-South Tyrol and - for the duration of half a legislative period - the meeting place of the regional council Trentino-South Tyrol . The Trentino Parliament also meets here .
history
The “Caneppele” building originally stood on the site of today's official building, which for a time served as a branch of the Banca d'Italia and was destroyed by bombing during the Second World War . After the institutions of the Autonomous Region of Trentino-Alto Adige, founded in 1948, had initially been allocated to different seats, the regional government decided in 1953 to build an official building that would unite all offices. The following competition was won by Adalberto Libera in 1954 . The project he designed was implemented between 1958 and 1965.
