The Rockenhausen District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of three district courts (AG) in the district of the Kaiserslautern Regional Court .

The court has its seat in Rockenhausen in the Donnersbergkreis . The judicial district includes the Donnersbergkreis with about 77,000 people.
history
The district court of Rockenhausen has its origins in 1789 as a peace court in the Département du Mont-Tonnerre . The court met first in the community center of the city. It was not until 1879 that the citizens' assembly decided to build a separate courthouse for what is now the district court. However, due to difficulties in acquiring land, construction could only begin 20 years later. The courthouse at Kreuznacher Strasse 37 , which is still in use today, was finally completed in 1900. It is a sandstone block building that is now a listed building.
After the Second World War, the courthouse briefly served as the seat of the French military government. Due to legal reforms in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the district court of Rockenhausen initially took over the areas of the dissolved district courts of Obermoschel and Winnweiler in 1968 and finally in 1976 the district court of Kirchheimbolanden, which was also dissolved . The courthouse was unable to cope with this workload even after the official apartment and the warehouse were closed, so that the building had to be expanded in 1989 by an extension. This has since housed the land registry . In 2003, extensive renovations were carried out on the courthouse.
