Reinickendorf office building
The Amtshaus Reinickendorf ( Berlin-Reinickendorf .
) on the property Alt-Reinickendorf 38 is a monument inUntil it was incorporated in Berlin in 1920, this building was the headquarters of the administrative and rural community of Reinickendorf. The property previously belonged to a community shepherd . In the 19th century, the community had increasingly spent its money on infrastructure and building schools, which made the office building rather unsightly. The lower two floors were built in 1885 as a simple raw brick building by the master carpenter F. Cuvry, the third floor was designed by Carl Moritz . When the house was expanded from 1896 to 1897, he took over the yellow bricks from Cuvry as the basic material, but designed the facade much more elaborately. Based on the town houses of the Brandenburg Gothic , Moritz used arches , a balcony and a stepped gable to structure. These decorative elements corresponded to the growing need for self-portrayal of the rural community.
The poor house was also built directly behind the office building in 1885 , but it was demolished in 1968. The former official prison from 1883 is set back from the street; it was the first municipal administration building.
