Amy Sannes (born February 3, 1977 in St. Paul ) is a former American speed skater who specializes in short distances .

Amy Sannes began her sport in 1988, influenced by the 1988 Winter Olympics , and made her international debut at the 1996 World Junior Championships in Calgary , where she finished 14th in the sprint. In Milwaukee , she made her World Cup debut on January 11, 1997. In the B race over 500 meters she was 15th. At the end of 1998 she started for the first time in Nagano over 500 meters in the A group and was 22. It quickly became clear that Sannes was a specialist in the 1000 meter distance. One day later, she was sixth on this route and was placed in the top ten for the first time. She achieved her best result in January 2001 as fourth over 1000 meters in Helsinki . Overall, she came in the top ten 20 times over this route. The best placings in the overall World Cup were eighth on the 1000-meter course classification in the 1998/99 and 2000/01 seasons.

Between 1998 and 2006 , Sannes competed three times at the Olympic Games. The best place was an eighth place in 2002 in Salt Lake City over 1500 meters as well as a fifth place with the team in Turin in 2006 , where it was only used in the preliminary run. The first world championship she took part in was the sprint four-way fight in Berlin in 1998 , where she finished 14th.
