An-Nuchaib ( Arabic النخيب, DMG an-Nuḫaib ; also Nukhayb ) is an Iraqi city in the Iraqi governorate of al-Anbar .
An-Nuchaib is located at a crossroads in the region with roads south to the border with Saudi Arabia , north to the main Ramadi - Jordan road, and northeast to the city of Kerbala . It is the last Iraqi city before Islamic pilgrims cross the border with Saudi Arabia on their way to Mecca . Two smaller villages are located north of the city: Habbariya (28 km) and Kesrah (51 km).
A station was built by the British John Bagot Glubb at the time of the British Mandate Mesopotamia .
In December 2010 the Qatari royal family member Chalifa bin Abdulla bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani had a fatal accident with his vehicle in an-Nuchaib. 2011 22 Shiite pilgrims were on their way from Damascus to Karbala killed in Nuchaib.
In June 2014, an-Nuchaib was captured by the Islamic State Organization . In August 2014, the city and the smaller towns of Akashat and Zankura were recaptured by the Iraqi armed forces.
