The an-Nur Mosque ( Arabic مسجد النور Masjid an-Nūr ) is a Sunni - Islamic place of worship in the Chalid lagoon on the Buchaira Chalid (Chalid Lake) in the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates . Built in the Ottoman-Turkish style , the mosque was influenced by the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (also called the Blue Mosque), the main mosque in Istanbul . The two imams of the mosque come from Syria (as of 5/2016), the “Sharjah Center for Cultural Understanding” is the official spokesman for the mosque.

The an-Nur mosque was built from fiberglass , marble and plaster of paris from April 6, 2003 by the academic architecture office of the independent parts emirate Sharjah and the general contractor United Engineering and completed in 2005. It belongs to the government of Sharjah and has a capacity of 2,200 believers, 1,800 of whom are men and 400 women. The building has 2 minarets each 52 meters high and 34 domes, the largest inside is 31.5 meters high.
