The location arose from a settlement that was only recorded on maps from the 19th century and was located in the intersection of Elberfeld-Nevigeser Kommunal- Chaussee (today Nevigeser Straße , Landesstraße L427) and a high path (today Straße In den Birken ), which was of regional importance as a coal route . In 1832 the place belonged to the Katernberger Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld .
