Ana Jotta

Ana Jotta (* 1946 in Lisbon , Portugal ) is a Portuguese artist and actress who works with various media.

Life

She studied at the Lisbon University of Fine Arts (1965–1968) and in Brussels at the Abbay de la Chambre, the University of Architecture and Visual Arts (1969–1973).

Between 1969 and 1980 she also worked as a stage actress. She had her first exhibitions in Portugal in the early 1980s.

She lives and works in Lisbon.

In her work she works as a painter, sculptor and with installations , sound, photography, sewing, pottery and embroidery.

With her work she collages the work of other artists and authors and thus creates a unique work of her own. Her work never fully reveals the authorship and she surprises her audience with ever new variations and varieties of her works.

The artists she parodies and collages include a. Diego Velázquez , Paul Klee , Stuart Carvalhais , Edward Hopper .
