Ana María Oramas González-Moro (born July 17, 1959 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) is a Spanish politician .

Career

Oramas studied economics at the University of La Laguna .

After Oramas was a councilor in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, she sat in the Parliament of the Canary Islands between 1991 and 1999 . She belonged to the government of the Autonomous Community under President Manuel Antonio Hermoso Rojas . Then she was mayor of San Cristóbal de La Laguna until 2008 . Initially a member of the Unión de Centro Democrático , she has represented the Coalición Canaria since 1982 .

In June 2007, Oramas succeeded Paulino Rivero Baute in the Congreso de los Diputados after he became President of the Canary Islands Autonomous Community. She was able to successfully maintain her parliamentary mandate in the parliamentary elections in 2008 , 2011 , 2015 , 2016 and in April and November 2019. In the two 2019 elections, she was the top candidate in a community list made up of Coalición Canaria and Nueva Canarias .
