The Anaconda Smelter Stack is a 178.3 meter high chimney from a copper smelter near Anaconda in the US state of Montana . It is on the National Register of Historic Places .
The Anaconda Smelter Stack was completed in 1919. The inside diameter of the chimney is 22.86 m at the bottom and tapers to 18.29 m at the highest point. It is made entirely of bricks and is one of the tallest brick chimneys in the world.
State park
The chimney is part of Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park , a 12 acre (4.85 hectare) state park in Deer Lodge County . A parking lot with an information board and a view of the brick structure is at the east end of Anaconda on Montana Highway 1 next to Goodman Park.
