The Anadolu Isuzu Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. is a Turkish commercial vehicle manufacturer based in Gebze Şekerpınar , Kocaeli Province . It is a joint venture between the Turkish holding company Anadolu Grubu (currently 55.4%) and the Japanese companies Isuzu (16.99%) and Itōchū Shōji (12.75%).

history

Anadolu had already gained experience in vehicle construction with the company Çelik Montaj, which was founded in 1965 and is based in Kartal (Istanbul) , where trucks and motorcycles were produced. The company was named Anadolu Otomotiv Sanayi in 1981. Skoda trucks were also produced there until 1986.

After the license agreement was signed in 1983, Isuzu production began the following year. In 1986 the partnership between Isuzu, Itochu and Anadolu Endüstri Holding was sealed. It was the first Turkish-Japanese partnership in the automotive industry.

The Japanese partners increased their share to 35% in 1996. The name was changed to Anadolu Isuzu .

The company has been listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange since 1997. Two years later, the new plant in Gebze Şekerpınar started production.

The first vehicles were exported from 1994, and buses have been exported to the European Union since 2003.

Domestic production of the Isuzu D-Max began in 2012.

The company is one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in Turkey and sells more than 60% of its production abroad.

Anadolu Isuzu is part of the consortium which, according to the Turkish President's announcement, will manufacture a “Turkish” automobile by 2021.
