Anaximenes is an impact crater on the Moon on the northwestern edge of the Moon's front . It lies between the Carpenter craters in the southwest and Philolaus in the east. The crater walls are badly eroded.

The crater was named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek philosopher and astronomer Anaximenes of Miletus .
