Anba Michael

Anba Michael , formerly Michael El Baramousy , is a bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in southern Germany and thus one of the two highest representatives of the Coptic Orthodox Patriarch in Germany.

With his appointment as bishop by Pope Tawadros II in June 2013, he is a pastor and contact person for the rapidly growing number of Copts in Germany. The 26 Coptic Orthodox communities were divided into two Coptic eparchies . His official seat is the " Coptic-Orthodox Monastery of St. Anthony " in Waldsolms- Kröffelbach . The enthronement in Kröffelbach took place in June 2013. The ceremony was attended by twelve bishops from the Coptic Church, some of whom came from Egypt or Sudan. Abbot Bishop Michael El Baramousy has directed the Monastery of Saint Anthony for over 30 years.

In December 2014, he agreed with the Mainz Vicar General Dietmar Giebelmann to purchase the Heilig Geist community center in Mainz-Mombach.
