Maria Ancilla Betting OCist , actually Agnes Betting , (born September 17, 1938 in Essen ) is a Cistercian and former abbess of the Cistercian Abbey of Oberschönenfeld .

Life

Agnes Betting joined the Cistercian abbey there in January 1957 after her training in Oberschönenfeld as a postulant . She made her solemn profession on August 28, 1958 . At the age of 33 she was appointed prioress , from 1975 to 1985 she was novice master . On September 28, 1985 she was elected as the successor of M. Caritas Schmidberger as the 39th abbess of the monastery. On November 9, 1985, was blessing by Abbot General Ferenc Polikárp Zakar place of her pontificalia handed. On September 8, 2008, she resigned from office. She has been in theMarienkron Abbey in Austria Prioress Administrator ad nutum Abbatis Generalis . Her home monastery is still Oberschönenfeld Abbey, where the Diamond Profession was celebrated in August 2018.
