Ancillae Domini

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The community of the Ancillae Domini ( Lat. Maidservants of the Lord ) is an association of women who live in the form of a secular institute . It was founded in 2003 and emerged from the Catholic Scouting Society of Europe under the guidance of Father Andreas Hönisch . Since July 31, 2010 it has been recognized by Bishop Klaus Küng as a public church association . The head office is in Kleinwolfstein in the municipality of Neustadtl ( Lower Austria ), with a branch in Altötting .

Spirituality and Mission

Members lead Ignatian spiritual lives. As a rule, the community has adopted the Constitutions of St. Ignatius of Loyola , adapted for women , as found in the Congregatio Jesu , formerly known as the Mary Ward Sisters or English Misses. Willingness to serve, total dedication and a simple lifestyle in personal everyday life are named as important elements. Consecrated life "with the decision in favor of the three evangelical counsels (poverty, celibacy and obedience) includes freedom from personal property, from human ties and freedom from one's own will" . The spiritual accompaniment of the community is taken over by priests of the Order of the Servants of Jesus and Mary .

Each member of the Ancillae Domini pursues their own profession outside of the community after an internal training period. Its aim is a close connection between apostolate and professional activity. The members are currently active in the field of family help and housekeeping, schools, occupational therapy , child and adolescent psychiatry , outpatient nursing , integration work and mobile hospice missions .

There are also voluntary activities in the parishes and in youth work. A special focus is on the participation in the Catholic Scouting of Europe. The houses of the community should be centers that are open to other people for prayer and cooperation and offer the opportunity to orient one's own life towards God.

management

The leader of the community is Judith Christoph, Rector for Special Schools in Altötting, who has also been the national champion of the KPE since 2013.
