Andersson is an impact crater on the southern hemisphere on the far side of the moon. It lies just behind the southwestern edge of the area visible from Earth and can be observed when the libration is favorable . However, it can only be seen from the side. It accompanies a low ridge that extends to the north. The closest significant crater is Guthnick Crater in a north-northeast direction.

Andersson is bowl-shaped and has a small central crater floor. Its edge shows no traces of erosion.

Due to the similarity of the name, it is easily confused with the much larger crater Anderson .
