André Dequae

André Dequae (born November 3, 1915 in Kortrijk ; † August 17, 2006 ibid) was a Belgian politician . As a member of the Christian Democratic Flemish party CVP , he was a minister of the Belgian state government in various departments in the 1950s and 1960s.

Dequae initially served as Minister for Reconstruction in 1950, but moved to the top of the Colonial Ministry that same year, which he headed until 1954. In 1958 he was briefly Minister for Foreign Trade, from 1960 to 1961 Minister for Economic Cooperation and finally from 1961 to 1965 Minister of Finance.

From 1974 to 1977 he was President of the Second Chamber of the Belgian Parliament. He then headed the Belgian Farmers' Union for four years . After his political career, Dequae took over the post of chairman of the board of directors of Bank Brussel Lambert .
