Michael Erich Franck
Michael Erich Franck , pseudonym Melisso (baptized October 17, 1691 in Schalkau , † June 17, 1721 in Ahorn near Coburg) was a German novelist.
Life
Franck was born as the son of a pastor in Schalkau, but thanks to the transfer of his father to the Coburg area he was able to attend the famous Coburg high school Casimirianum from 1709 to 1713 . He initially enrolled in Jena , but went on to Altdorf near Nuremberg in 1714 to continue his law studies there. Apparently he never graduated, but he was still able to find a job as an official advocate in Oldisleben an der Unstrut. Only twenty-nine years old, he died in 1721 in his parents' rectory.
The young author's romance and student novels follow the patterns of the gallant novel through to encryption . Franck obviously had to put up with the accusation after the Adelphico of having refused the scandal and praising it for money. He comes back to it with the Fleurie , confesses to poverty and names his current role models:
Isn't the way of writing too delicate? That it should be the same as those who lead the incomparable Romanists of our time as Herr Talander , Menantes and Meletaon : So I am already satisfied when I get a thousand parts of the comfort of these famous people in writing; [...].
But that I have started to write novels is best known to those who know me, and they know that I have to do this for considerable reasons; In view of the fact that I cannot possibly prosequire my Studia Juridica, so far not have taken advantage of this remedy, since I had the need for a daily sleepy companion at universities.
