André Gailhard

André Charles Samson Gailhard (born June 29, 1885 in Paris , † July 3, 1966 in Ermont , Département Val-d'Oise ) was a French composer .

The son of the director of the Paris Opera , Pierre Gailhard , studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Paul Vidal , Xavier Leroux and Charles Lenepveu and won the Prix ​​de Rome in 1908 .

Gailhard composed several operas, including Amaryllis (world premiere in Toulouse in 1906), La Sortilège (world premiere in Paris 1913) and La Bataille (world premiere in Paris 1931), as well as the ballet L'Aragonaise , prelude and fugue for large orchestra, several film scores and songs.
