Paul Vidal
Paul Antoine Vidal (born June 16, 1863 in Toulouse , † April 9, 1931 in Paris ) was a French composer and music teacher .
Vidal studied in Toulouse and from 1878 at the Paris Conservatory with Jules Massenet and César Franck . He won the Prix de Rome in 1883 and taught at the Conservatoire from 1884. He was also a conductor at the Paris Opera and the Opéra-Comique , but also conducted at the Palais Garnier (here the premiere of Siberia in 1911 ). His students included u. a. Jacques Ibert , Lili Boulanger and Enrique Mario Casella . His most important work is the ballet Maladetta , which was composed in 1893. He also composed the operas Eros (1892), Guernica (1895) and La Burgonde (1898) as well as piano pieces and choral works and published music-pedagogical works.
