André Lajoinie

André François Lajoinie (born December 26, 1929 in Chasteaux , Corrèze department ) is a French communist politician .

Life

Lajoinie, son of a farmer, was a farmer himself. In 1948 he joined the French Communist Party (FKP or Parti communiste français , PCF). In 1955 Lajoinie became a member of the FKP office for the Corrèze department and chairman of the communist youth association Union de la jeunesse républicaine de France in the Corrèze department. In this capacity, he took part in the World Festival of Youth and Students in Warsaw in the same year . In July 1958, Lajoinie suffered a fractured skull during a clash with the police during an anti-Gaullist demonstration. After a nursing stay in Czechoslovakia , Lajoinie returned to France and became secretary of the peasant union Syndicat d'exploitants agricoles in the Corrèze department and editor of the weekly newspaper Le Travailleur de Corrèze (German "Der Arbeiter der Corrèze"). In 1964 he attended the party school of the FKP in Choisy-le-Roi , in 1967 the party college of the CPSU in Moscow . On his return from Moscow, Lajoinie was chairman of the FKP training program for agricultural activists. In 1972 he became a member of the central committee of the FKP and there in 1973 secretary of the farmers' commission. In 1976 Lajoinie became a member of the Politburo , responsible for the Agriculture Department. Since 1977 he has been the editor of the weekly La terre (German "Die Erde"). From 1978 to 1993 and from 1997 to 2002 Lajoinie was a member of the French National Assembly for the Allier department , and from 1981 to 1993 he was also chairman of the communist parliamentary group . From 1978 to 1988 and from 1992 to 1998 he was also a member of the Auvergne Regional Council .

In 1988 Lajoinie - a close confidante of General Secretary Georges Marchais - was a Communist presidential candidate and won 6.8% of the votes in the first ballot.

In June 1996, Lajoinie was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
