Choisy-le-Roi is a city and a French municipality with 45,331 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Val-de-Marne in the greater Paris .
Location and climate
Choisy-le-Roi is located at an altitude of about 50 m on the west bank of the Seine about 18 km (driving distance) southeast of Paris. There is a shared train station for the SNCF and the RER C line . The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 630 mm / year) falls over the year.

The population explosion since the beginning of the 19th century is mainly due to the loss of labor in the countryside as a result of the mechanization of agriculture and the proximity to the rapidly developing Greater Paris area.
economy
The people of earlier centuries lived mainly as self-sufficiency from the produce of their fields and gardens. Cattle breeding also played a not insignificant role. More and more craftsmen and service providers also settled in town. The car manufacturer Renault operates a supplier here .
history
Units of Caesar's army were fighting nearby in 52; the place name is said to be derived from socius . At least since the 12th century belonged to the left here fishing village to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés ; At the beginning of the 13th century the first parish church was built . The existence of a ferry (bac) is documented at the end of the 13th century . In the years 1680–1686 the Duchess of Montpensier, Anne Marie Louise d'Orléans , a cousin of Louis XIV , had a castle built here; the architect was Jacques Gabriel . In the early 18th century the castle came into the possession of Countess Conti . In 1739 Louis XV acquired it . and used it as a hunting lodge; he renamed the place Choisy-le-Roi. In 1746 Madame de Pompadour († 1764) settled here. During the revolution , the place was named Choisy-sur-Seine ; the castle was demolished in the 19th century.
