Ablon-sur-Seine is a commune with 5785 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Val-de-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . Ablon-sur-Seine belongs to the arrondissement L'Haÿ-les-Roses and the canton of Orly . The inhabitants are called Ablonais .
geography
The municipality is located on the Seine , about 15 kilometers south-southeast of Paris , on the border with the Essonne department . Ablon-sur-Seine is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Villeneuve-le-Roi in the north, Vigneux-sur-Seine in the south and Athis-Mons in the southwest.
history
With the Edict of Nantes since 1598, a Protestant church was allowed to be built in Ablon, which the Parisian Huguenots attended until the edict was repealed in 1685.
In its history, the community lived almost continuously from the proximity to the Seine, on the one hand through trade and shipping, on the other hand through agriculture. In the middle of the 20th century, in the course of suburbanization, it developed into a residential community , which is dominated by single-family houses ( pavilions ).
