Michael Begon

Michael Begon ( Michael E. "Mike" Begon; * 1951 ) is a British biologist and professor of ecology. Together with the ecologists Colin R. Townsend and John L. Harper , he wrote the textbooks Ecology and Essentials of Ecology, which are also widely used in German-speaking countries .

Begon completed his Ph.D. in 1975. Worked at the University of Leeds and moved to the University of Liverpool . There he is now professor of ecology at the School of Biological Sciences. His main interest is the population ecology and genetics of insects. He is currently researching the Great Gerbil in Kyrgyzstan . In his free time he plays tennis and soccer and supports Liverpool FC .
