André Michael Hünseler (born July 4, 1981 in Cologne ) is a German photo artist , lecturer and author . He was best known for taking photos of his hometown Cologne at night.

Life

Hünseler began his professional career in 2000 with an apprenticeship as a design assistant for media and communication at the Richard Riemerschmid vocational college in Cologne. From 2001 to 2003 he headed the student council as school spokesman, was involved as a member of the school steering group in the North Rhine-Westphalian pilot project "School 21 - Independent School" for greater freedom of self-administration for Cologne schools and taught a differentiation course in digital compositing himself before completing his training . During his three-year professional training, he also discovered his passion for photography and image processing.

After completing his training at the vocational college, Hünseler initially worked for several years as creative director for media companies in the m-commerce sector in Cologne and Melbourne , until he started his own business as a service provider for multidisciplinary design and image processing at the beginning of 2009 under the name thinking pixels mediendesign . In the field of photo design, he concentrated early on on those shooting areas that go beyond simple conventional photography. For example, in 2009 he photographed the panorama picture “Cologne-8-Gigapixels” for an advertising agency in Cologne, which with a resolution of over 8,000 megapixels represented the fifth largest digital photo in the world at the time.

His city photos are exhibited in galleries, available as art prints, in calendars, illustrated books, on posters and postcards. In addition, he teaches professional image processing with Adobe Photoshop and various disciplines of photography as a lecturer and private trainer. His calendar Cologne Panorama (published on July 19, 2012 by DuMont Kalenderverlag) was awarded the highest award (gold) at the Gregor International Calendar Award 2013. In total, one calendar was awarded a gold award in ten different categories. Hünseler prevailed against a total of 858 calendars submitted by competitors in the cities / architecture category.
