André Mewis (born October 18, 1971 in Berlin ) is world champion in three different martial arts : 1992 Pencak Silat , 1997 Kyokushin Karate and 2007 kickboxing ( WKA ).

Life

André became interested in Kung Fu at the age of 14 . He soon got bored with running shapes, which is why he switched to Pencak Silat . In 1987 he was appointed to the German Pencak Silat national team. In 1992 he became world champion in this discipline in Malaysia in front of 120,000 viewers and 120 million on TV screens. It was here that he acquired his battle name, the butcher . Back at home in Berlin, he trained with master Santo Kyokushin karate. He had his first fight in Seidokaikan ( K-1 ) in 1994 and his first Thai boxing match in 1995 . In 1997 he became world champion in Kyokushin Karate (full contact). He contested more than 150 fights, most of which he won. He was the first German who was allowed to fight in the Japanese professional league. In the People's Republic of China he fought as the first and only German in the Sanda professional league . He has mastered six martial arts styles and has traveled through Asia ( Indonesia , Japan , the People's Republic of China, Singapore and Thailand) for years . He financed his travels with the prize money or he worked in up to four martial arts dōjō at the same time. Back in Germany, he toured Germany with the Shaolin Monks and the Night of Martial Arts program . When they offered him their warehouse with props and weapons as a dojo, he grabbed it immediately. Thus he opened his first own dojo in Berlin-Charlottenburg. In 2007 he was once again world champion in kickboxing ( WKA ).
