Guillermo Vergara

Guillermo Vergara Gómez (* 1890 in Melipilla ; † October 28, 1943 ) was a Chilean painter .

Vergara studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes with Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor and belongs to the artist group of the Generacion del Trece . He has received several prizes for his works, in particular he has won several awards at the Certamen Edwards organized by the Salon Oficial in Santiago . In his paintings he mainly depicted scenes from rural life. His most famous work, La Vaca Blanca (The White Cow), is part of the permanent collection of the Museo de Bellas Artes . His brother Nicanor Vergara was also known as a painter.
