André Oktay Dahl (born July 7, 1975 in Lørenskog ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre .

education and profession

Dahl graduated from Oslo University in 2002 with a law degree .

After the end of his parliamentary term in 2013, he got a job with the Norwegian consultancy Gambit Hill + Knowlton . In 2016 he started working as a consultant for the Norwegian trade union confederation Unio .

Political career

From 1995 to 1997 Dahl was Vice Chairman of Unge Høyre in Akershus Province . He was then chairman until 1998. From 2008 to 2012 he was chairman of the Høyre in Akershus.

Dahl was a member of the local parliament of Rælingen from 1995 to 1999 . Between 1999 and 2006 he was in the Akershus Fylkesting . He represented the province in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , from 2001 to 2013. In his first legislative period from 2001 to 2005, he was not a member of parliament that was directly elected, but rather a so-called Vararepresentant for Jan Petersen . In 2012 he announced that he would not run again in the 2013 election. During his time in parliament, he was particularly committed to the rights of children, young people, women and homosexuals.

In 2015 he announced on Facebook that he had left the Høyre party. He gave the reason that he never actually fit into the party.

Private

Dahl is openly gay. In 2007, he stated in an interview that he was raped when he was 14 years old.
