Andrea Frezza

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrea Frezza (born June 18, 1937 in Laureana di Borrello , † March 29, 2012 in Vibo Valentia ) was an Italian documentary filmmaker and film director .

Life

Frezza graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in 1962 in directing and subsequently worked as a journalist and film critic; in addition, he was vice secretary of the “Federazione Italiana Circoli Cinematografici” (FICC). Since then he has also made numerous documentaries and worked as an assistant director for feature films. His debut Il gatto selvaggio from 1968 rejected conventional film language and is an example of the personal, little narrative style of the Contestazione del '68 , which also predicted terrorism in the years to come. In addition to working for television and scripts for other directors, he made his own films at longer intervals. Frezza lived in California for years but returned to Italy. His pseudonym , under which he wrote screenplays, was Robert F. Jordan .
