Andrea Gottweis , née Hofer (born February 12, 1961 in Oberwart ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 1996 to 2015 she was a member of the Burgenland State Parliament .

Life

Gottweis was born as the daughter of the entrepreneur Richard Hofer from Pinkafeld. She was married from 1982 to 2007 and has been widowed since then. She has two sons, born in 1983 and 1987. Gottweis attended elementary and secondary school in Pinkafeld and the B-HAK Oberwart. She passed her Matura in 1980 and then studied business administration from 1980 to 1982 at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . She is the manager of a clothing store in Pinkafeld.

From 1997 to 2010 Gottweis was the district chairwoman of the organization “Women in Business”. From 1999 to 2005 she was also deputy district chairwoman of the ÖVP Oberwart, in 2004 she took over the office of district chairwoman of the economic association and has also been the regional chairwoman of the economic association since 2004. Gottweis has been a local councilor in Pinkafeld since 1997 and was elected regional party leader of the ÖVP Burgenland in 1999. She represented the ÖVP in the state parliament from June 27, 1996 and was the area spokesperson for family and business.
