Andrea Moletta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrea Moletta (born February 23, 1979 in Cittadella ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Andrea Moletta drove for the German UCI ProTeam Gerolsteiner from 2005 to 2008 . He came into the team primarily as a helper for the one-day classics, and he helped Fabian Wegmann , for example, to win the San Francisco Grand Prix in 2005. His greatest successes are a stage win at the 2003 Peace Drive, at that time still wearing the Mercatone Uno jersey , a third place at the Giro del Friuli 2004, then in the jersey of Team Barloworld , and a second place at the Gran Premio Miguel Induráin 2005, behind his team-mate Wegmann.

On May 21, 2008, Andrea Moletta's father was checked and questioned by the Guardia di Finanza , which is responsible for doping offenses in Italy. Thereupon Moletta, who at that time competed in the Giro d'Italia 2008 for the Gerolsteiner team , was taken out of the race.
