Andrea Schröder-Ehlers (born October 12, 1961 in Soltau ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2008 .

Professional background

After graduating from high school in Soltau , Schröder-Ehlers studied law at the universities in Berlin and Hamburg, which she completed with the first state examination. After completing her legal preparatory service and passing the second state examination, she initially worked as a department head for economic development, later as a personal advisor and press spokesperson for the Lüneburg district government . From 1998 until she was elected to the state parliament in 2008, she worked as the head of the department for security, environment, traffic and citizen service at the city of Lüneburg .

Political career

Schröder-Ehlers has been a member of the SPD since 1996. In 2009 she was elected as the successor to Hedi Wegener as chairwoman of the SPD sub-district of Lüneburg. Furthermore, she is a member of the board of the SPD district of Hanover and owner of the board of the state association of the SPD Lower Saxony .

Schröder-Ehlers has been a member of the Lüneburg district council since 2011 and is deputy chairwoman of the SPD district parliamentary group.

In the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2008 , she entered the Lower Saxony state parliament via the SPD's state list , and in the state elections in 2013 and 2017 she won the direct mandate in constituency 49 (Lüneburg) . In parliament she was spokeswoman for the Lower Saxony SPD parliamentary group for the areas of rural areas, nutrition, agriculture, consumer protection and demography. In the 18th electoral term, she is the chair of the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

Honorary positions

Schröder-Ehlers volunteers in the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB). She is chairwoman of the ASB district association Lüneburg and deputy chairwoman of the ASB state association Lower Saxony and a member of the federal board of ASB Germany.
