Hedi Wegener b. Rahmann (born October 1, 1945 in Kettwig ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 1998 to 2009 .

Life and work

From 1965 to 1969, Hedi Wegener completed a degree in social education in Hanover , which she completed with a degree in social education (FH). Then she joined the social service of the city of Lüneburg . In 1972 she took over the management of the drug advice center of the Diakonisches Werk Lüneburg. In 1975 she moved to the State Youth Welfare Office , where she worked in intensive care. She also studied psychology at the University of Hamburg. From 1981 she then worked as a probation officer in the management supervisory office at the Lüneburg district court . Since 1990 she has been the coordinator for the regional court district of Lüneburg. In 1998 she completed her training as a mediator at the University of Lüneburg .

Hedi Wegener has been married since 1968 and has two sons.

Political party

Wegener joined the SPD in 1975 and has been deputy chairwoman of the SPD sub-district of Lüneburg since 2002. She is particularly involved in the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (ARSP). From 1986 to 2004 she was a member of the ARSP sub-district executive committee in Lüneburg, from 1987 to 1993 as chairwoman. From 1994 to 2004 she was also a member of the ARSP district board in Hanover. In addition, she has been a member of the ARSP state executive in Lower Saxony since 1995 and the ARSP federal executive since 1999.

From 1986 to 2002 Wegener belonged to the joint council of the joint community of Gellersen and from 1991 to 1998 to the local council of Kirchgellersen . From 1998 to 2009 she was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1998 to 2004 she was deputy spokesperson for the European Union Affairs Working Group of the SPD parliamentary group . She has also been a member of the Defense Committee since 2002. From 1998 to March 2009 she was also chair of the German-Central Asian parliamentary group .

Hedi Wegener entered the Bundestag in 1998 via the Lower Saxony state list and thereafter always as a directly elected member of the Lüchow-Dannenberg - Lüneburg constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election she received 43.8% of the first votes . In 2009 she did not run again.

Public offices

From 1994 to 1996 Hedi Wegener was the mayor of the Gellersen municipality. From 2010 to 2016 she was chairwoman of the Federal Association for Child Day Care eV She is a board member of the Sieb & Meyer Foundation.
