Andrea Scrima (born 1960 in New York City ) is an American installation artist, art critic and writer who has lived in Berlin since 1984 .

Life

Andrea Scrima studied in New York City at the School of Visual Arts and went to West Berlin in 1984 with a scholarship to the Berlin University of the Arts . She has been working in Berlin since then. She was able to exhibit her artistic work internationally. Around 2003 she broke off her career as a painter and visual artist, lived in New York for a year on a scholarship, and began to concentrate entirely on writing.

She has written art and literary reviews for The Brooklyn Rail , The Rumpus , Quarterly Conversation , Music & Literature , Lute & Drum , The Scofield , manuscripts , typist and The American Reader, and for online magazines.

Scrima published her first novel in 2010, which was published in Graz in 2018 in German translation.

She is the mother of one child. In 2018 she announced that she had applied for German citizenship.
