Andrea Stella (engineer)

Andrea Stella (* 22. February 1971 in Orvieto ) is an Italian aeronautical engineer , who as race director in Formula 1 racing team from McLaren operates.

Career

Andrea Stella studied aeronautical engineering at the La Sapienza University in Rome . In 2000 he started working for the Ferrari racing team . Stella was initially active in the test team, after extensive vehicle tests were banned during the season, he was responsible for preparing Michael Schumacher's emergency vehicles .

In 2009 he became a racing engineer for Kimi Räikkönen's races and has been active in this role for Fernando Alonso since the 2010 Formula 1 season . After Alonso's move to McLaren in the 2015 season , it became known that Stella would follow him to the traditional British racing team and that he would also remain Alonso's racing engineer there.
