Andreas Dörpinghaus

Andreas Dörpinghaus (* 1967 ) is a German educator and professor for systematic educational science at the University of Würzburg .

Life

Dörpinghaus studied pedagogy , German , philosophy and history at the universities of Duisburg , Düsseldorf and Essen. In 1997 he published his dissertation Mundus pessimus. About the philosophical pessimism of Arthur Schopenhauer . His doctoral supervisor was Prof. Dr. Karl Helmer . In 2000 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the logic of rhetoric .

Until 2005 he was a university lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He then represented the Chair for Pedagogy II at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg until 2007. In 2007 he was appointed to the chair for general educational science (formerly chair for pedagogy II) at the University of Würzburg, which in 2012 was renamed "chair for systematic educational science".

His main research interests lie in the areas of educational philosophy, historical educational research and temporal phenomenology as well as educational ethics and rhetoric. In addition, he deals with cultural and intercultural education, archive pedagogy and media philosophy.

Andreas Dörpinghaus is the executive director of the Institute for Education and has been the dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences (formerly Philosophical Faculty II) at the University of Würzburg since 2013. Since 2014 he has been the scientific director and project spokesman for the interdisciplinary teaching project "Global Systems and Intercultural Competences" (GSIK) at the University of Würzburg. He is also a scientific adviser to the Association of Philologists, the Comenius Society and the Research Center for Historical Visual Media.
