Andreas Güldner (born March 28, 1986 in Nuremberg ) is a German freediver and mine diver with the Marine Specialized Forces .

Life

Andreas Güldner started freediving in July 1999 under the former head of the diving center, Oliver El-Daly. At that time, Güldner was the youngest competitive freediver in the world. In the following years he mainly concentrated on training in the indoor pool.

This changed in July 2005 when he traveled to Dahab to the Red Sea and within a short time he ventured into great depths. A few months later he returned to the Blue Hole to train for his first deep diving record. On November 5, 2005, he set the first German deep diving record without fins with a depth of 70 m. In order to be able to concentrate on freediving, he moved to Dahab again.

On June 11, 2006, he was the first German to succeed in diving through the Arch, a 28 m long tunnel 56 m deep in the Blue Hole, with just one breath.

In December 2006 he was part of the German national freediving team to dive at the world championship in Hurghada .

On August 9, 2008 he succeeded in improving the four-year deep diving record in the "Constant Weight with Fins" discipline to a depth of 71 meters. Exactly one year later, on August 9, 2009, he improved the record by one meter to a depth of 72 meters. The experiment also took place in Dahab. As part of this record attempt, donations were collected for the Sankt Barbara Foundation. This foundation supports mine victims all over the world.

Güldner joined the German Navy in July 2006 , completed mine diver training in December 2007 and trained as an ordnance disposal sergeant in May 2012.

On July 20, 2012, Güldner managed to break the 13-year-old German record in the "No Limit" discipline with a 110 m dive.

In the ancient discipline Skandalopetra, Güldner succeeded on June 26, 2014 at the Panorama Reef diving spot near Safaga (Egypt) to a depth of 112 m. In this discipline of freediving, the diver only descends with the help of a stone. A rope is attached to the stone, which, after reaching the maximum depth, is pulled back to the surface by the surface crew using only physical strength. Furthermore, no fins and no wetsuits are allowed in this discipline.
