Andreas Gal (* 1976 in Szeged ) is a Hungarian-German computer scientist and a former executive at Mozilla .

Life

He was born in Szeged and grew up in Lübeck .

During his studies at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg , he played a key role in the development of AspectC ++ , an aspect-oriented extension of C ++. He then earned a doctorate from the University of California, Irvine .

Since 2008 he worked at Mozilla, where he developed TraceMonkey , the first JavaScript - just-in-time-compiler . Later, as research director at Mozilla, he started the PDF.js and Boot2Gecko projects , which later resulted in Firefox OS .

From March 2014 to June 2015 he was the successor to Brendan Eich as CTO at Mozilla. Then he switched to a startup .
