Andreas Grober
Andreas Gröber (* around 1600/1610 in Ohrdruf ; † 1662 in Osterode am Harz ) was an important carver of the early Baroque in Northern Germany.
Its altars , pulpits , baptismal fonts and organ brochures have been preserved in many churches in the Harz region and beyond. His name was almost forgotten for a long time. Only more recent research has succeeded in ascribing numerous other excellent, previously anonymous works in the region to him, in addition to the reliably attested ones.
Little is known about Grober's life. The year of his birth is not known. He has been attested as a picture carver in Osterode since the 1630s. In 1657 he acquired the citizenship of the city and bought a house on Kesselbrunnen for his family and the workshop.
