Andreas Gutsfeld

Andreas Gutsfeld (* 1957 ) is a German ancient historian .

Gutsfeld studied ancient history, Latin studies and social sciences at the universities of Münster , Heidelberg and Bordeaux . In the winter semester 1987/88 he was at the University of Heidelberg with a dissertation on Roman rule and local resistance in North Africa. Doctorate of military conflicts between Rome and nomads . He worked as a research assistant at the University of Eichstätt and the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1998 he became a professor for ancient history at the University of Münster. He was then Professor of Ancient History at the Blaise Pascal Clermont-Ferrand II University , and today he is Professor of Ancient History at the Université de Lorraine .

Gutsfeld's research areas are the Roman Empire and Late Antiquity .
