Andreas Horst Mahnken (born May 7, 1971 in Dortmund ) is a German radiologist . He is Professor of Radiology at the Philipps University of Marburg and Director of the Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg at the Marburg site. His special focus is on the minimally invasive treatment of tumor diseases and the diagnosis and therapy of vascular diseases.

Life

Andreas H. Mahnken studied human medicine at the Universities of Würzburg, Bonn and Graz from 1991 to 1997. After passing the medical state examination in the same year, he was awarded a doctorate at the Medical History Institute of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. med. PhD . In the same year he went to the surgical clinic of the Hegau Clinic in Singen as an assistant doctor. In 1999 he moved to the Clinic for Radiological Diagnostics at RWTH Aachen University as a research assistant . In 2003 he was recognized as a specialist and a year later he received his habilitation and appointment as senior physician, and in 2008 he was appointed as an adjunct professor . In 2006 he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in health management and in 2010 a Master of Medical Education (MME). Since November 2012, he has headed the Department of Radiology at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg at the Marburg site.

Andreas H. Mahnken's clinical and scientific focus areas include non-invasive cardiac imaging, for which he completed his habilitation in 2004. This habilitation was awarded the Walter Friedrich Prize of the German Radiological Society in 2005. In the area of ​​the computer tomography technology used here, he is involved as an inventor in various patents. He is a member of numerous scientific organizations and a member of the scientific advisory board of various international journals.
