Andreas Hoffmann (theologian)

Andreas Hoffmann (* 1959 in Lippetal ) is a German Roman Catholic church historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in Soest , he studied Latin and Catholic theology for teaching at the University of Münster . After obtaining his doctorate in Münster in 1991 , he completed his legal clerkship and taught as a teacher at the grammar school. After his habilitation in 1998 at the Ruhr University in Bochum , he teaches as a professor for Catholic theology / historical theology at the University of Siegen .

His main research interests are Augustine of Hippo, Christian existence in late antiquity between church norms and pagan practice (in the research field "Antiquity and Christianity") - Reception and transformation of divination, development and justification of church structures - Cyprian of Carthage and "Novum Testamentum Patristicum" ( NTP) - Reception history of the St. John Passion.
