Ulrich Riegel

Ulrich Riegel (* 1966 in Ochsenfurt ) is a German Catholic theologian . Riegel has been Professor of Practical Theology and Religious Education at the University of Siegen since December 2008 .

Life

Riegel studied Catholic theology as well as mathematics and Catholic theology for teaching at grammar schools at the Julius Maximilian University in Würzburg and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . After successfully completing this, he completed a legal clerkship at the Wirsberg-Gymnasium in Würzburg and at the Theresien-Gymnasium in Ansbach .

From 1998 to 2000 he received a scholarship in the graduate school “Gender Difference in Religious Symbol Systems” at the Würzburg University. In 2003 , Riegel received his doctorate from the Department of Religious Education at the University of Würzburg with a dissertation on God and Gender. An empirical religious pedagogical investigation into gender concepts in concepts of God for a doctorate in theology .

Until 2008 he was a research assistant and academic advisor at the chair for religious education at the University of Würzburg. In December 2008 he took over a professorship for practical theology and religious education at the University of Siegen. From April 2010 to May 2014 he was chairman of the Center for Teacher Training and Educational Research at Siegen University.

Riegel is a member of the Working Group on Catholic Religious Education and Catechetics , and since January 2017 its spokesman for the Didactics Section, as well as the International Academy of Practical Theology (IAPT) and the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI). He is the author and editor of numerous specialist publications.
