Adalbert Theodor Michel

Adalbert Theodor Michel (born April 15, 1821 in Prague , † August 30, 1877 in Morschach-Axenfels ) was an Austrian legal scholar , politician and university professor .

Life

Michel graduated from grammar school in Prague as a Konviktskögling and then began studying law at the University of Prague . On December 18, 1844, he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . This was followed by a stay in Vienna before he came to the University of Cracow as a lecturer in 1847 . However, due to the political turmoil, he returned to Prague in 1848. In 1849 he taught as a supplement at the University in Prague before a 1850 reputation as a professor at the University of Olomouc followed. In the academic year 1853/1854 he was rector of the university. With the dissolution of the university he came to the University of Innsbruck as a professor in 1855 .

In 1858, Michel followed another call as a full professor of civil law and mining law at the University of Graz . There he held the office of dean in 1860/1861, 1869/1870 and 1876/1877 and in 1867/1868 he was rector of the university.

Michel became increasingly active in the urban society of Graz. From 1870 he was active as a community and city council and was also sent by the Graz Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a member of the state parliament in Styria . There he was able to gain increasing influence. He became a member of various committees, most recently in the state committee , through which he was given responsibility for all legislative and state cultural matters.

Michel died on a vacation trip to Lake Lucerne .
