biography

Like his predecessor Peter I, Abbot Andreas I also tries to secure the legal position of the monastery. Therefore, in 1431, he left the existing rights and possessions of the monastery to Duke Heinrich XVI. confirm the rich of Bavaria-Landshut. It is not certain whether Abbot Andreas von Metten was involved in a submission of other abbots from the diocese of Regensburg to the Council of Basel in 1433 , which referred to the high taxes that had to be paid by the abbots and monasteries to the princes. The abbots involved in this petition were then excommunicated by the council. An exact date of death of Abbot Andreas is not known. His tombstone appears to have been used later in the construction of the south tower of the monastery church as part of the staircase.
