Andreas Leitner (basketball player)

Andreas Leitner (born April 14, 1975 in Oberwart ) is an Austrian basketball official and former player.

career

Leitner, a 1.78 meter tall construction player, played from 1993 and until 2003 for the Oberwart Gunners in the basketball league . As a member of the Austrian national team, he took part in the 1999 European Championship qualification. He played a total of 25 international matches.

After the end of his playing days, he took over the position of manager in Oberwart in 2003, and in 2010 he also became the club's executive vice-president. He completed a degree in history and German studies and from 2008, in addition to his duties at the Oberwart Gunners in Oberschützen, was employed as a high school teacher ( Bundesgymnasium Oberschützen ).

In April 2017, Leitner's 13-year managerial activity for the "Gunners" ended, he moved to the cabinet of Sports Minister Hans Peter Doskozil , where he was responsible for top-level sports , but remained as Vice President on the Oberwart Gunners' board.
