Andreas Raabe

Andreas Raabe (* 1963 in Annaberg ) is a German neurosurgeon and director of the University Clinic for Neurosurgery at Inselspital in Bern , Switzerland.

biography

Andreas Raabe first studied dentistry in Jena and then human medicine in Dresden , where he was awarded the Academy Prize as the best in his class. From 1990 to 1996 Raabe completed his training as a specialist in neurosurgery at the Chemnitz Clinic . After a research stay in Cambridge , he worked at the Neurosurgical University Clinic in Leipzig . From 1999 to 2008, Raabe senior physician and deputy clinic director of the Neurosurgical University Hospital Frankfurt Volker Seifert, whom he accompanied from Leipzig to Frankfurt. Since 2008 Raabe has been a full professor for neurosurgery at the University of Bern and director of the University Clinic for Neurosurgery at the Inselspital Bern. His specialties are microsurgical operations in the brain and spine.

Andreas Raabe's list of publications includes more than 450 original articles, reviews and book chapters.

Raabe is the inventor of a new continuous monitoring method in the operation of brain tumors, and has introduced microscope-integrated video angiography in the operation of aneurysms and vascular malformations in neurosurgery. In 2019 he received the European Lecture of the European Society for Neurosurgery as an award for these inventions and his professional career.
