Dorothy Khadem-Missagh (born November 26, 1992 in Mödling , Austria ) is an Austrian pianist .

biography

Dorothy Khadem-Missagh was born in Austria as the youngest child of a family of musicians and grew up in Baden near Vienna . As a pianist, she continues the musical work of her family in the fourth generation. Her father Bijan Khadem-Missagh is a violinist and conductor. He is the founder and longstanding artistic director of the international chamber music festival Allegro Vivo and was concertmaster of the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria . Her sister Martha and her brother Vahid are violinists.

At the age of three she received her first piano lessons and at the age of six she was accepted at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . She studied there with Noel Flores , Stefan Arnold and Jan Jiracek von Arnim, among others . She received further musical impulses from Martha Argerich and Pavel Gililov as well as from András Schiff , Ferenc Rados , Arie Vardi, Robert Levin , Gábor Takács-Nagy and Menahem Pressler as part of the “Verbier Festival Academy” .

In 2011 Dorothy Khadem-Missagh made her debut in the Great Hall of the Wiener Musikverein with Joseph Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major. Since then she has been a regular guest at the invitation of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna for solo recials and chamber music concerts at the Wiener Musikverein and the Wiener Konzerthaus . Further appearances took place at MuTh , Styriarte Graz , the International Festival Allegro Vivo , the Mosel Music Festival , the Chopin Festival Gaming, the Norwegian Youth Chamber Music Festival and the International Kyoto Festival. Concert tours take her all over Europe, to Japan and China as well as to the USA and Canada.

Awards

Dorothy Khadem-Missagh has won multiple prizes at the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn , the “Ricard Viñes” international piano competition and the 13th international piano competition for young pianists in Ettlingen. She is the winner of the International Béla Bartók Competition Vienna, a finalist of the New York International Piano Competition and has received numerous awards in other international and national competitions.
